Palworld Sphere Guide — Which Sphere to Use

Author: Palworld.space TeamPublished on 2026-07-15Updated on 2026-07-15

TL;DR — 30-Second Summary

  • There are 10 sphere types in Palworld, from Pal Sphere (Power 7, Lv 2) to Eternal Sphere (Power 80, Lv 74).
  • Rule of thumb: Use spheres with power ≥ 1/3 of the target Pal's level. Lv 30 Pal → at least Power 10 sphere (Mega Sphere).
  • Back bonus is everything: +50% capture rate when you attack/throw from behind. At low HP + back bonus, you can often use one tier lower sphere.
  • Most efficient upgrade points: Lv 14 (Mega Sphere, Power 10), Lv 27 (Hyper Sphere, Power 21), Lv 44 (Legendary Sphere, Power 40)

Capture Tips for Maximum Success Rate

  1. Lower HP to 1-5% — This is the #1 factor. At full HP, capture rate is near zero. At 1-5%, you get the maximum bonus. Use a weak weapon for the final hits.
  1. Back Bonus (+50%) — Always circle behind the Pal before throwing. This bonus is huge and costs nothing. Combined with low HP, you can often use one tier lower sphere.
  1. Status Effects — Frozen or Paralyzed Pals have significantly higher capture rates. Bring an Ice Pal (freeze) or Electric Pal (paralysis) when hunting high-value targets.
  1. Bring Enough Spheres — For Legendaries, bring at least 20 spheres. Even at 1% HP with back bonus + Legendary Sphere, capture rate is ~15-25%. Do the math: 20 spheres = ~95% cumulative success probability.
  1. Craft in Bulk — Build a Sphere Assembly Line (Lv 28) for mass production. Assign Handiwork Pals like Anubis to craft spheres automatically.
  1. Upgrade Early — The gold cost of higher-tier spheres is worth it. Failing 10 Pal Spheres on a Lv 25 Pal wastes 800 gold and time. One Giga Sphere costs 890 and succeeds in 1-2 tries.

Common Problems & Fixes

ProblemWhySolution
"Wasted 10 spheres on one Pal"Using too low-power sphere for the target's levelCheck the level guide above. If Pal is Lv 25, Giga Sphere (Power 15) minimum. Pal Sphere (Power 7) will fail 90%+ of the time.
"Can't afford higher-tier spheres"Not farming enough resources / building too few spheresBuild a dedicated Paldium farm base near blue crystal nodes. Assign Mining Pals to auto-farm Paldium.
"Legendary Pal broke 30 spheres"Not using back bonus / HP too highBack bonus is +50%. HP must be at 1-5%. Combined with Legendary Sphere, this gives ~15-25% per throw. Without back bonus: ~5-10%.
"Sphere misses the Pal entirely"Bad aim / Pal movedWait until the Pal pauses (after an attack animation). Lead the target slightly. Unused spheres can be picked up from the ground.
"Sphere crafting is too slow"Using basic Sphere WorkbenchUpgrade to Sphere Assembly Line (Lv 28). Assign Handiwork Pals with high level (Anubis Lv 6) for fast crafting.
