Top 10 Flying Mounts — Ranked by Speed

1. Jetragon — 3300 Sprint Speed

Element: Dragon | Stamina: 200 | Catch Level: Lv 50

Jetragon is in a league of its own. At 3300 sprint speed, it's 73% faster than the #2 mount (Frostallion at 1900). The trade-off: only 200 stamina means you land frequently for recovery.

  • Why it's #1: Crosses the entire map in ~40 seconds. Almost twice as fast as anything else available.
  • The catch: You need to beat a Lv 50 boss with Legendary Spheres. Don't attempt before Lv 44+ with heat-resistant gear.
  • Best for: Endgame players who value speed over everything. Boss farming loops, resource runs, reaching Sky Islands quickly.
If you don't have Jetragon yet, use Frostallion — it's the best mount until you get Jetragon, and you'll need Frostallion to fight Jetragon (Ice beats Dragon).

2. Frostallion — 1900 Sprint Speed

Element: Ice | Stamina: 400 | Catch Level: Lv 40+

Frostallion hits the sweet spot: fast enough for efficient travel, 400 stamina doubles Jetragon's flight duration, and it's significantly easier to catch (Fire-type counter = bring Blazamut).

  • Why it's #2: Best balance of speed (1900) and stamina (400). Can fly from map center to any edge without landing. Partner skill adds Ice damage to attacks while mounted.
  • Best for: 90% of endgame players. Jetragon's speed is nice, but Frostallion's stamina makes it more practical for exploration.

3. Shadowbeak — 1800 Sprint Speed

Element: Dark | Stamina: 250 | Catch Level: Lv 40+

  • Why it's #3: Fastest Dark mount. Also a top-tier combat Pal (150 Shot ATK). Good for players who want one Pal for flying AND fighting.
  • Best for: Combat-oriented players. If you're frequently dismounting to fight, Shadowbeak is arguably better than Frostallion.

4. Faleris — 1700 Sprint Speed

Element: Fire | Stamina: 300 | Catch Level: Lv 28-35

  • Why it's #4: The best non-legendary flyer. 1700 speed is only 10% slower than Frostallion but available much earlier. Great for mid-game exploration.
  • How to get: Wild in the volcano area (Lv 28-35). Bring Water-type Pals. Or breed from Suzaku + Ragnahawk.
  • Best for: Players Lv 28-40 who haven't caught legendaries yet.

5. Suzaku — 1400 Sprint Speed

Element: Fire | Stamina: 350 | Catch Level: Lv 30+

  • Why it's #5: Solid fire-type flyer with good stamina (350). Slightly slower than Faleris but flies longer. Also a decent combat Pal.
  • Best for: Players who need a fire-type mount and haven't found Faleris yet.

6. Helzephyr — 1300 Sprint Speed

Element: Dark | Stamina: 200 | Catch Level: Lv 22-28

  • Why it's #6: Best mid-game dark flyer. Easy to catch. Good stepping stone before Shadowbeak.
  • Best for: Lv 22-35 players. Use Helzephyr until you can catch Faleris or Shadowbeak.

7. Quivern — 1200 Sprint Speed

Element: Dragon | Stamina: 250 | Catch Level: Lv 23+

  • Why it's #7: Decent dragon-type flyer. Available mid-game. Not the best at anything, but a solid budget option.
  • Best for: Players who haven't unlocked higher-tier flyers yet.

8. Astegon — 1100 Sprint Speed

Element: Dragon/Dark | Stamina: 300 | Catch Level: Lv 40+

  • Why it's #8: Not a fast flyer, but the #1 miner in the game (Mining Lv 7). Fly + mine with the same Pal.
  • Best for: Players who want a dual-purpose Pal for travel AND base work.

9. Vanwyrm — 1100 Sprint Speed

Element: Fire/Dark | Stamina: 180 | Catch Level: Lv 15-20

  • Why it's #9: Early flyer with reasonable speed. Available at Lv 15-20. Good first upgrade from Nitewing.
  • Best for: Lv 15-22 players. Gets you airborne early.

10. Nitewing — 900 Sprint Speed

Element: Neutral | Stamina: 150 | Catch Level: Lv 10-15

  • Why it's #10: The very first flying mount you'll likely get. Available at Lv 10-15 with basic Pal Spheres. Slow, low stamina — but it FLIES.
  • Best for: Absolute beginners (Lv 10-18). Upgrade to Vanwyrm or Helzephyr ASAP.
