Palworld Breeding Guide — How Breeding Works
Author: Palworld.space TeamPublished on 2026-07-15Updated on 2026-07-15
TL;DR — 30-Second Summary
- Any two Pals can breed — male + female + cake in a Breeding Farm = egg. The offspring is determined by averaging the parents' hidden Breeding Power numbers.
- Formula: Offspring = Pal whose Breeding Power is closest to (Parent A + Parent B) / 2
- Breeding Farm unlocks at Tech Level 19 (50 Wood, 50 Stone, 30 Fiber). Cake = 1 Flour + 1 Red Berry + 1 Milk + 1 Egg + 1 Honey.
- Most important tool: Breeding Calculator — find offspring from parents, or find parents for a target Pal.

How the Breeding Formula Works
Every Pal has a hidden number called Breeding Power. The formula:
Offspring = Pal whose Breeding Power is closest to (Parent A + Parent B) / 2
Examples
| Parent A | Parent B | Average | Offspring |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lamball (10) | Cattiva (10) | 10 | Lamball or Cattiva |
| Lamball (10) | Anubis (140) | 75 | Mid-power Pal near 75 |
| Anubis (140) | Anubis (140) | 140 | Another Anubis |
| Jetragon (286) | Jetragon (286) | 286 | Another Jetragon |
Key insight: Breeding two of the SAME Pal always produces that Pal. This is how you mass-produce rare Pals after catching just one.
Breeding Power Ranges
| Power Range | Example Pals | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| 1-30 | Lamball (10), Cattiva (10), Chikipi (10) | Very easy — starting Pals |
| 30-80 | Direhowl, Nitewing, Rushoar | Easy — mid-early game |
| 80-130 | Faleris, Suzaku, Helzephyr | Medium — mid-game |
| 130-180 | Anubis (140), Astegon (158) | Medium — late-mid game |
| 180+ | Frostallion (~230), Paladius (~240), Jetragon (286) | Hard — legendaries |
Building & Using a Breeding Farm
Requirements
| Item | Cost | Unlocked At |
|---|---|---|
| Breeding Farm | 50 Wood, 50 Stone, 30 Fiber | Tech Level 19 |
| Cake (per egg) | 1 Flour, 1 Red Berry, 1 Milk, 1 Egg, 1 Honey | Crafted at Cooking Pot (Lv 17) |
| Egg Incubator | 10 Paldium, 5 Cloth, 2 Refined Ingot | Tech Level 7 |
| Electric Incubator (faster) | 30 Refined Ingot, 20 Circuit Board, 10 Plasteel | Tech Level 36 |
Step-by-Step
- Build the Breeding Farm on flat ground (needs 4x3 foundation space)
- Craft cake at a Cooking Pot — build a ranch with Chikipi (eggs), Mozzarina (milk), Beegarde (honey), and a Berry Plantation + Mill for flour
- Place cake in the farm's box — the small box attached to the Breeding Farm (NOT the base Feed Box!)
- Assign one male + one female Pal to the Breeding Farm (approach it, press F/use key)
- Wait — a progress bar appears. ~5 minutes per egg with cake
- Collect the egg — it appears outside the farm
- Place egg in incubator — wait for hatching (time varies by Pal and incubator type)
- Hatch — collect your new Pal
Cake Production — The #1 Bottleneck
Cake is the #1 thing that stops breeding operations. Here's a self-sufficient setup:
| Ingredient | Source | Pal Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Flour | Mill Wheat at Mill | Wheat Plantation + Watering/Planting Pals |
| Red Berries | Berry Plantation | Planting + Watering Pals |
| Milk | Ranch | Mozzarina assigned to Ranch |
| Eggs | Ranch | Chikipi assigned to Ranch |
| Honey | Ranch | Beegarde assigned to Ranch |
Pro tip: Dedicate one base slot to cake production. 3 Ranches + 2 Berry Plantations + 2 Wheat Plantations + 1 Mill produces enough cake for 2-3 Breeding Farms running 24/7.
Breeding Power Examples
| Pal | Breeding Power | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lamball | 10 | Lowest power |
| Cattiva | 10 | Same as Lamball |
| Foxparks | 20 | Slightly higher |
| Nitewing | 40 | First flyer |
| Direhowl | 60 | Early combat mount |
| Faleris | 110 | Good flying mount |
| Suzaku | 120 | Mid-game fire flyer |
| Anubis | 140 | Best all-round worker |
| Astegon | 158 | Best miner |
| Frostallion | ~230 | Ice legendary |
| Paladius | ~240 | Tank legendary |
| Jetragon | 286 | Highest power — fastest mount |
Using the Breeding Calculator
Our Breeding Calculator has two modes:
1. Find Offspring
- Select any two Pals
- Instantly see what Pal their offspring will be
- Also shows Breeding Power values for both parents
2. Find Parents (Reverse Lookup)
- Select a target Pal you want
- See ALL possible parent combinations
- Filter by Pals you already own
- This is the most powerful feature — it tells you the cheapest way to breed any Pal
Common Problems & Fixes
| Problem | Why | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| "No eggs appearing" | No cake in the farm's box | Cake goes in the Breeding Farm's attached box, not the base Feed Box. The small box on the side of the farm. |
| "Farm shows 'No work'" | Pals aren't assigned / same gender | Both Pals must be assigned to the farm (♂ + ♀). Check gender icons on Pal cards. |
| "Egg hatched into wrong Pal" | Wrong parents — Breeding Power mismatch | Verify with the Breeding Calculator BEFORE putting Pals in the farm. |
| "Egg takes forever to hatch" | Using basic incubator | Build Electric Egg Incubator (Lv 36) for 2x speed. Or place campfires near basic incubator for heat bonus. |
| "Always out of cake" | No automated ingredient production | Set up a dedicated cake base with 3 Ranches + Berry + Wheat Plantations. |
| "Pal won't assign to farm" | Pal is already assigned to another task | Remove Pal from base, then reassign. Or pick up and drop the Pal directly onto the farm. |
